The Hair Trick That Gave Us Four Extra Good Hair Days For Blowouts & Silkpress

In short, I’m here to tell you this the most polished hair moments don’t start in the morning they begin the night before.
At Boujiezee Beaute, we love to prime and prep our clients, and I’ve learned that the secret to long-lasting blowouts, silk presses, and effortlessly fresh hair isn’t more product it’s intentional timing.
After six months of real world testing on ourselves and our clients, across multiple hair types and textures, two dry shampoos have earned a permanent place in our Boujiezee Edit™ pro kit and our homes.
First up OUAI Super Dry Shampoo (Cape Town) my personal favorite. There are literal hearts flowing from my eyes as I write this, and I hope your imagination allowed you to visualize it.
OUAI absorbs excess oil without stripping the hair’s natural moisture, which I personally witnessed and tested on my own hair. It adds soft volume without stiffness, leaves no chalky or sticky residue, and shows no visible buildup on any hair tone or texture I’ve worked with. I loved it so much that last year we gave away full-size bottles with every blowout appointment for an entire month and our clients loved it just as much.
My second favorite is the Crown Affair Dry Shampoo, which comes in a powder formula.
As a professional, this is my go-to choice for client touch-ups, even though it’s marketed for consumer use. I’ve used it countless times on clients, and the results are instant. The powder allows for targeted application without disturbing the integrity of a blowout, silk press, or polished style. No stiffness. No buildup. It refreshes the roots while preserving the hair’s natural oils a key factor in maintaining longevity and overall hair health.
And did I mention? They both smell amazing. Clean, fresh, and inviting never overpowering.
When it comes to dry shampoo, it’s ideal for anyone whose hair becomes oily quickly, for blowouts and silk presses you want to preserve, and for those who prefer fewer washes without compromising freshness. When used intentionally, dry shampoo isn’t about avoiding wash day it’s about extending your style, when it comes to dry shampoo, overnight application changes everything.
Applied before bed, dry shampoo has time to absorb oil as it’s naturally produced, allowing hair to wake up with noticeable volume, soft and touchable texture, refreshed roots, and a style that lasts days longer.
The Boujiezee Overnight Method
- Apply OUAI or Crown Affair dry shampoo sparingly at the roots (if using the OUAI spray, hold it 5–6 inches away).
- Gently massage or brush through.
- Set hair with an overnight blowout roller set (optional).
- Secure with a satin or silk tie.
- Sleep, wake, and style lightly.

Often, just one nighttime application per week is enough to maintain freshness and preserve your look.
Both of these products are trusted. Both are effective. Both are worth every spray (or tap).
And if Carrie Bradshaw were still writing columns today, we imagine she’d end with something like,
“Sometimes the secret to looking put-together isn’t starting over… it’s knowing exactly how to keep what’s already good.”
XOXO,
Boujiezee Beaute 💋
